Today, I rode my awesome asian fold up bike to the park around the corner from the university. It was a gorgeous day! The past four days I’ve been able to see the blue sky, which is a miracle, because usually it’s a gray smog color. I sat on a bench under a beautiful tree and took out my homework and read. I got quite a lot done, but I was slightly distracted by my surroundings, and my focus was turned to the people scattered about the park. I’ve decided I really like to people watch, especially when it’s a different culture. I watched the cute Asian grandma playing with her grand kid, the 70 year old guy working out on the exact same outside gym equipment that they have in parks all over China (even down south. Communism), the adorable couple sitting on bench, giggling and laughing as they shared a huo long guo - 火龙果 (dragon fruit). Then there was the cute little boy that threw his ball in my direction and I got to play catch with him for a bit. There were the three competitive teenage boys playing ping pong. I can’t forget the 8 year boy that talked to me for a second, ran over to his mom and talked for a minute, ran back to me and invited me over to His house for Japanese food. I kindly declined, because I was by myself and didn’t know them. But it was a lovely people watch. I love how important caring for family is for the Chinese people. There was so much happiness in the park today. At sunset, I rode my awesome asian fold up bike home to my su she 宿舍 (apartment)
