China

So, after writing my post about rice the other night, I went to bed thinking of all the cool ways that a bowl full of rice is like life and each experience, like how we can share our rice with others and let them receive the blessings too. Or, how there are many different kinds of rice (speaking of which, I just looked it up, did you know that there are over 40,000 different varieties of rice?) Or how when we let cooked rice sit out, it will go bad and we can’t eat it anymore, similarly to how when we don’t take the opportunity to soak in the moments we’ve been given, it’s too late and we’ve missed the chance. But instead of boring you with analogies on “not wasting any rice,” I will just show you some pictures instead. :)
We went to a families house in our ward for dinner on Sunday!

Our kou yu teacher, Yang lao shi. He wasn't wearing yellow that day... And us four Americans.

Beautiful roses.
There is a chinese character in these flowers. It's the character for land/country.  国。
I was looking out the window one day during class and I saw some people repelling off the side of the school cleaning the windows. Cool huh?
And then I was in my room, and they scared me. They were right outside my window, just cleaning the windows.

  1. I love the rice analogy! Especially because, you know, Rice is my name.
