This last weekend was a blast!. Here's what made it so fun...
It was conference weekend, as well as my birthday on Saturday. My mom has been up in Washington the past couple weeks helping out with grandkids because my sister in law has been really sick. So, my dad and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for a birthday lunch, in between sessions of conference.
Our delicious meals...( we saved half of them for sunday dinner)Mine: shrimp scampi and lemon delicious Salmon or something like that
Dad's: Some sort of awesome steak
And yes, THE BEST PART. Reeses cheesecake, that we shared. (we didn't save any of this for sunday dinner of course), Can I say favorite dessert? YES.
Saturday night I had a Nauvoo party at Sister Camps house! All ten girls that I will be going with were there! We got fitted into our adorable dresses, had dinner, laughed, shared excitedness feelings, and bonded.
Sister Cauncey in her halfway finished High Hopes and Riverboats dress. We are the lucky group that they are making new dresses for that show this year, so we got to get them personally made for us!
My dad brought over a surprise cake earlier, so they all sang Happy Birthday to me with their beautiful Nauvoo voices.
The guys, or should I say "Elders" came over after priesthood session. We had everyone there except for Elder Packer who wasn't able to make it up from Arizona. You were well missed.
Holy Cow, I love these people already and the summer hasn't even started!
Sunday was lovely. My absolutely amazing sister Angie had us over for breakfast in the morning.
And 21 candles! I'm so young/old/I'm not sure...ha.
My dad and I got to go to the conference center for the afternoon session of General Conference. Thanks to aunt Andrea who is in the tab choir and got us these down in the front tickets. We sat by some adroable sister missionaries from temple square. One was from Taiwan, the other from Belgium(the french speaking part). I got to speak some mandarin with the one from Taiwan. My dad and I no speaka french with the one one from Belgium. My good friend Rachel happened to be sitting next to us too.
General Conference was amazing! I love hearing from the prophets and apostles who lead and guide us in these latter days. There messages give me encouragement and uplift and guide me. I know that these men are called of God, and by heeding to their counsel, things will work out the way they need. Blessings do come. Life is always going to be hard, there are always going to be new challenges presented, it would be pointless and boring if those challenges didn't arise. But by living the gospel of Jesus Christ, we have the miraculous blessing of growing closer to Christ and allowing our trials to make us stronger and better people. There is nothing that brings greater joy than that! I'm so grateful that I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
