Sister Paulsen, you have been called to serve in Nauvoo Illinois as a Young Performing Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
That was the exciting news I got this weekend. It started with over 200 applicants and on Saturday 35 of us hopeful applicants were at a callback from 8 AM to 5 PM. At the end of the super fun day Elder Camp told us that we would be receiving a phone call the next day between 7 and 9 PM, if we made it. If not, we would receive the you did good email.
Well, Sunday evening rolls around, I’m feeling super antsy as 7 is just around the corner. At 6:52 my phone rang. I happened to be holding it in my hand, I quickly looked down at it and realized, “Ah, I don’t know this number! This could be it!” I answered with a chipper,
“Hello?!”
The voice on the other line said,
“Sister Abby Paulsen?”
(Oh my goodness, I almost wet my pants at the realization that THIS was the phone call and I was going!)
“Yeah?!”
“This is Elder Camp!”
“Hi!”
“Congratulations! You’re going to Nauvoo this summer!”

Wow, my heart is bursting with gratitude and excitedness! I feel so blessed. Since that call I have felt so strongly that I wasn’t just chosen because I did good at the audition or whatever, but it is a call from the Lord. He has been preparing me. This is a mission call and I feel so blessed to be able to serve the Lord full time for 4 months this summer. We will receive a formal mission call letter in a couple weeks, along with more information, and then it’s off to Nauvoo in a few months.
I am humbled to know that the Lord needs me, along with the 19 other called YPM’s in Historic Nauvoo this summer to…
Sing….Dance….Testify

Abs! Oh. My. HEAVENS! I am so stinking excited for you. You are going to be so wonderful. I love you, and I miss you tons.
ReplyDeleteTotally AWESOME! I love the play-by-play that you gave us. Eventhough I knew you made it, I was still on the edge of my chair reading it. I wish we could come out to see you this summer. I know you'll do a great work. Well done, Abby!
